ZX14 exhaust
and bits

SportsBike Engineering

Ok… now this is an ongoing project…
First up is the exhaust.. The customer wanted to get rid of the large twin system..
As it seems hard to get any info out of Kawasaki for the tech stuff I need to calculate the correct sizes lengths etc., he wanted to go for an interim system till we could sauce all the tech details I needed..

(archive pic sorry didn’t take a b4)

Ok.. here is the interim pipe with carbon muffler that will be used in the final system…
Looks good and drops 10kg of the bike which if it did nothing else is a bonus.. BUT…..

It did better than that…
Here is the dyno chart of the improvements..
Plus it also bought the slightly over rich mixtures into a more respectable range.
Well experience and rough calcs come together

Next part of the project is to machine a ride height adjuster… it is ridiculously low and as the guy that owns this uses it as a sports bike not a drag bike, He has already found the limit of ground to sight glass clearance.. and it aint enough..

while it was on the dyno I did some other tests… i.e which ignition map is the best… so I can build the electronics to use that one in most gears instead of the doughy one that Kawasaki give ya for gears 1 to 4.. and also to get rid of the limiter in 6th that stops you going over 304km/h.. and that I know is a definite figure cos I ran it till it hit the false limiter at 10,500 rpm

Ongoing Project.. This will be updated when the customer gives me the bike back for the next stage….
